Default GW2 & Current Chars, Items/Skills: Can Someone Clarify?

Hello all,

It's been driving me nuts trying to find really definitive information on this, so I figured people here would more than likely know:

1) Will characters be able to be transfered at all from GW to GW2, as was originally stated by the devs?

2) If so, will the current skills/spells still be available?

3) And, if so, do you absolutely need EoTN in order to move your char to GW2?

4) Do you have to complete EoTN in order to reach the hall where you can store certain weapons to take with you to GW2?

I've been a bit unclear on this, even though I've done searching on various gaming sites, and weather or not the weapon stays there once put there, or you can "reserve" it somehow and still use it until GW2.

I'd appreciate any clarification, as my spouse and I have been going nuts trying to figure out if we need to get a hold of EoTN (which we've wanted soon anyway) and exactly what is going to be transfered, and how, to GW2.

I really appreciate any help/info, thanks

1) Characters will not be transferable. GW2 is set 250 years in future to GW1.
It has never, to the best of my knowledge, been stated that they could.
Names will, I believe be reserved, and there will be some connection between GW1 characters and GW2 characters, through the HoM, but most likely these will be cosmetic features. There's very little detail available yet.

2) You'll be starting with a new character so you're not going to have the skillsets you have now...In fact we don't know what skills there will be, or their mechanics

3) The Hall of Monuments, only available in EotN is billed as a means to lay down a legacy from your GW1 characters to GW2 characters. What benefits that will bestow is not known. Nor is known how much of the HoM you need to fill to achieve whatever those benefits are.

Basically we don't know how the HoM will affect GW2. Pretty much the sum of the available knowlege about character links between the games can be summed up here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/HoM

1. They never stated you could transfer characters from GW to GW2. In fact, the opposite is true; they said you may not. Character names from GW will be reserved for you in GW2.

2. Highly unlikely. They are aiming at reworking the skills completely.

3. See # 1. You only need to "link" your account to GW2. Unsure how this will be done. I don't believe you need EotN to reserve your names. Unsure on this point.

4. Theoretically, you only need to reach the Eye of the North outpost to access the Hall of Monuments. You could buy Destroyer weapons from others. You can not take anything from GW to GW2, but your HoM can "unlock" unique bonuses in GW2. These will likely be cosmetic in nature, meaning they will have a unique skin, or whatnot.

It has been gerally accepted that the reward from the HoM will be something along the lines of a title or the equivelent of a Pre-sale item.

Having an HoM will not give you any advantage over those that do not, however the HoM is the only known means of reserving your characters name in GW2 before its release.(this has not been completely clarified as of yet)

The devs have never said this. In fact, they've said exactly the opposite. GW2 is a brand new game for brand new characters. However, they did say that you'd be able to reserve your character's NAME for GW2 through the HoM.

New game, new skills.

I believe that character names are reserved through the HoM

No, you can get your HoM set up rather early on in GW:EN. As for weapons, you can only display certain ones (there's many threads about this), you don't store them there. When you add something to your HoM, A replica is displayed, not the actual item. Weapons/armor/gold/etc. are not transferable to GW2. Whatever you add to your HoM will unlock GW2 content, that is all.
